The grand Ram temple was inaugurated in Ayodhya on 22 January 2024. More than 7000 famous people like cricketers, film stars, businessmen, and many more came to the inauguration. The Prime Minister of India presides over this great ceremony. Along with him, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, and president of the temple trust Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had contributed.

History
Kush, son of Lord Shri Ram, had built the temple of Shri Ram in Ayodhya. There were 3000 temples of Sitaram in Ayodhya alone. It is said that the condition of many of these temples started deteriorating in the fifth century BC. During the same time, King Vikramaditya of Ujjain came to Ayodhya and got many temples here repaired.
Timeline
➤ 1528: On 21 April 1526, there is a war between Babar and Ibrahim Lodi. By 1528, Babar’s army reaches Ayodhya. It is said that at the behest of Babar, his commander Mir Baqi demolished the temple and built a mosque in its place, which later came to be known as Babri Masjid.
➤ 1717: Jai Singh II of Jaipur tries to get the mosque and its surrounding area. Jai Singh’s relations with the Mughal rulers of that time were also good, but he could not do this. But they built a Ram Chabutra near the mosque so that Hindus can worship there.
➤ 1813: For the first time, Hindu organizations claimed that Babar had built a mosque by demolishing the Ram temple in 1528.
It is believed that the British officers of Faizabad had also mentioned in their report the discovery of Hindu temple-like artifacts in the mosque. Former IPS officer Kishore Kunal has also mentioned this incident in his book Ayodhya Revisited.
➤ 1838: British surveyor Montgomery Martin gave a report that the pillars in the mosque were taken from the temple itself. After the claim of Hindus, along with Namaz, puja also started taking place on the disputed land.
➤ 1853: For the first time, communal violence took place in Ayodhya in 1853 during the reign of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Awadh.
➤ 1855: After 1855, Muslims were allowed to go to the mosque but Hindus were not allowed.
➤ 1885: Mahant Raghubar Das of Nirmohi Akhara had applied to install a canopy on Ram Chabutra, which was rejected by the court.
➤ 1934: Riots again occur in Ayodhya and during this, a wall of the Babri Masjid is broken, which is later rebuilt. But the prayers stop there.
➤ 1949: On the morning of 23 December 1949, the sound of bells started coming from inside the disputed structure. It appears that Shri Ram ji is being worshiped there. The Hindu side claims that the idol of Lord Ram suddenly appeared in the temple last night.
➤ 1950: Hindu Mahasabha’s lawyer Gopal Visharad filed an application in the Faizabad district court demanding the right to worship the idol of Ramlala.
➤ 1986: The local court ordered to open the lock of Babri Masjid for Hindus to start worshiping there.
➤6 February 1986: Muslim leaders met and formed the Babri Masjid Action Committee.
➤ 6 December 1992: About 2 lakh Kar Sevaks reach Ayodhya and the mosque is demolished.
➤ 2003: On the order of Allahabad High Court, the Archaeological Survey of India started excavation of the disputed site. The report found many evidences of the existence of a Hindu temple.
➤ 2010: The disputed land was divided into three parts equally among Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, Nirmohi Akhara, and Sunni Waqf Board. But all three parties are not happy with such a decision of the court.
➤ 2011: This matter reaches the Supreme Court.
➤ 2017: The hearing of this case begins.
➤ 9 November 2019: About 2.77 acres of land is given to Ram Janmabhoomi Trust on the basis of the Archaeological Survey of India by a bench of 5 judges. But its ownership will remain with the central government.
The Uttar Pradesh government is ordered to give 5 acres of land away from this land to the Sunni Waqf Board to build a mosque.
➤ 9 November 2019: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Ayodhya and lays the foundation stone of the temple. After which the construction of the temple starts.
➤ 22 January 2024: The grand Ram Mandir is inaugurated in Ayodhya.
Conclusion
This is a day that has been awaited for 492 years. A conflict in which so many people have lost their lives, there is no count. Some people had spent their entire lives in court battles.
